DAN’S STORY.

As a hugely experienced fly-half for Northampton Saints and current captain of the Welsh rugby team, Dan understands the importance of attention to detail, strategic planning and intelligent decision-making. These qualities have guided him to the very top of his sport. Since making his debut for Wales in 2008, aged just 19, he has gone on to make 92 appearances for his country and score 494 points. He has won three Six Nations titles, the first in 2013 - when he capped off the tournament with a drop goal, conversion and penalty in the Championship decider against England – followed by further triumphs 2019 and 2021. He represented his country at both the 2015 and 2019 Rugby World Cups, reaching the semi-finals of the latter, and was a member of the 2017 and 2021 British and Irish Lions squads.

In his domestic rugby career, Dan made 210 appearances for Ospreys, scoring 2,116 points, before moving to Northampton Saints, for whom he has made 47 appearances and scored 399 points so far. But these impressive statistics don’t record so many of Dan’s other characteristics – his composure under pressure, his intelligent game-management skills and his impressive decision-making - which are what have earned him the respect and admiration of his fellow professionals.

Acknowledging that at the age of 31 he is now in the latter years of his rugby career, Dan recognises that he needs to think more about his income during his retirement years, which is what attracted him to Haydart. He has always considered property to be one of the safer areas for financial investment. He began his journey into property investment by renting out his first house when he moved into a larger home, before progressing into co-investment alongside fellow athletes at Haydart. He believes the company offers the kind of long-term investment strategy that will appeal to athletes who are accustomed to seeking steady and reliable progress in their sporting careers. And he enjoys the team ethic and sense of mutual purpose which comes from co-investing alongside other athletes.

Dan’s entire rugby career has been characterised by a commitment to relentless self-improvement, and he is now determined to adopt the same approach in his personal life as he plans for his retirement. He has no interest in coasting through his final years as a player without considering his long-term future. As an athlete, he remains highly driven to succeed, and he believes that by investing in property today he is building a solid foundation for a long and rewarding life after rugby.
