JEZ’S STORY.
Jez Bragg’s career as a globally successful ultra-runner has earned him the respect of his fellow athletes, a prestigious collection of medals, and the opportunity to run in stunning landscapes around the world. But as an elite endurance athlete who runs hundreds of miles in a single race, Jez has also learned the value of strategic planning and long-term thinking. All successful athletes know that they need to map out their future and make smart decisions today in order to yield great rewards in the future. And it is precisely this sporting mindset which inspired Bragg to co-found Haydart Investments, so he can work alongside like-minded athletes and investors to achieve both short-term and long-term financial rewards.
The 40-year-old has already achieved great success in his sporting career. In 2010 he won the iconic North Face Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc. In 2013 he ran the entire 3,000km length of New Zealand off road, in just 53 days - the fastest known crossing at the time. And in 2015 he set a new record for completing Ramsay’s Round in Scotland – running up 24 summits over 58 miles in a time of 18 hours and 12 minutes. But it was only by investing every day in his training, mapping out his plans, and keeping the distant finish line in mind, that Jez was able to achieve his goals. It is a lesson which he believes translates naturally from sport into business: by co-investing in property, the decisions you make today can deliver extra financial success for you and your family long into the future.
Thanks to his own sporting success, Jez understands that athletes are highly motivated individuals who want their investments to be as organised, structured and goal-focused as their training. And that is why he believes Haydart’s sensible, long-term approach to investment is a natural fit for athletes. Co-investing alongside the Haydart team represents an accessible and balanced step into investing, even for those who are new to the industry. And as Haydart take charge of all the day-to-day administrative responsibilities, there is no time commitment required. He believes athletes will enjoy working with the eclectic mix of talented investors at Haydart, from fellow athletes to accountants and lawyers, and will feel at home in the mutually supportive team environment provided by the co-investment approach.
Jez, who lives in Dorset with his wife and two children, has always understood the importance of planning for a life outside of sport, which is why he combined his running career with a professional day job as a chartered surveyor specialising in construction project management. This field of work encouraged him to think of his long-term future, and has given him the experience and contacts to make Haydart a success. He has also played an active role in his family’s property business in the Midlands, which has helped him to understand the financial rewards and stability that comes from investing in property, even throughout the financial crisis and the Covid-19 pandemic.
When competing in the world’s toughest running events Bragg runs with his heart but plans with his head. He now takes exactly the same approach with Haydart, combining his decades-long passion for property and construction with the intelligent planning and preparation required to succeed in business. Having successfully married sporting success and a property career for almost 20 years, Bragg is now eager to share his lessons from sport and business with fellow athletes who are ready to invest in their future.
